SketchUp 2025 / 2026 · Windows & macOS

Match your SketchUp camera to any photo — in seconds.

ViewMatch Pro reads a photo's true focal length, GPS and orientation and stands your camera exactly where the shot was taken — exteriors, interiors and drone photos alike. Then finish the shot: mask real-world foregrounds over your model and export presentation-ready images. The entire workflow, without ever leaving SketchUp.

Why ViewMatch Pro

Fast to match. Accurate enough to defend.

Fast

A camera match that used to eat an afternoon of manual orbiting takes seconds — pick the photo, confirm, done.

Accurate

Field of view computed from the photo's embedded focal length — not eyeballed. Built for work that gets scrutinized, from client reviews to public exhibits.

🧰

A complete toolset

Match, fine-tune, pin, mask foregrounds and export final images — one workflow inside SketchUp. No Photoshop round-trips required.

👋

Easy

A built-in Quick Start walks you through the whole flow, and guided placement means the first match works like the fiftieth.

How it works

Three steps, no manual orbiting

STEP 1

Load your photo

Point ViewMatch at the original, unedited image — exterior, interior or drone shot — straight from the camera or phone.

STEP 2

It reads the EXIF

Focal length, GPS, heading, tilt, drone elevation and capture time are decoded automatically.

STEP 3

Camera matched

Field of view, position and sun are set and a scene is saved. Fine‑tune with live dials, a pinned reference point and a zoomed magnifier.

Features

Everything you need to nail the shot

EXIF‑accurate

Field of view derived from the photo's true focal length — not eyeballed.

GPS & drone placement

On a geolocated model the camera drops onto the exact spot — including drone shots placed from the launch point and recorded elevation.

🏠

Interiors too

No GPS indoors? Guided placement matches interior photos from an approximate standing position.

Matching shadows

Sets the model's date & time from the shot so sun and shadows line up.

🎚

Fine‑tune dials

Nudge position, aim and roll with adjustable increments — and pin an aligned point so it stays locked while you refine the rest.

🖼

Watermark overlay

Fade the photo over the view to align by eye, with a live zoomed magnifier for the fine work.

Photo Finish

Paint the photo's real foreground — trees, fences, poles — back over your model with brush and polygon masks.

📤

Production export

Blend, crop and export full‑resolution JPEG, PNG, TIFF — or a layered PSD with an editable mask.

🕘

Camera history

Viewpoints are recorded as you work — step back to any earlier state or save one as its own scene.

New — Photo Finish

From matched view to finished image — still inside SketchUp

A matched camera is half the job. Photo Finish composites your model INTO the photo: real foreground objects pass in front of the model, edges blend, and the result exports at the photo's full resolution.

MASK

Paint the foreground

Brush and polygon tools mask the photo's trees, fences and street furniture so they read in front of your model — with per‑edge feathering and full undo.

BLEND

Make it sit in the shot

Line‑weight, brightness, contrast, saturation, noise and blur controls tune the model render to the photograph. Crop to standard or custom aspects.

EXPORT

Deliver at full resolution

Flattened JPEG / PNG / TIFF, or a layered PSD that opens in Photoshop with photo, model and an editable foreground mask on separate layers.

FAQ

Questions, answered

The full plugin, with one complete view match for free. After that, matching is gated until you subscribe — everything else (re-opening, fine-tuning an already-matched view) keeps working.
SketchUp 2025 and 2026, on both Windows and macOS (Apple Silicon).
The image straight from a camera, phone or drone is always safe. Some editing is fine too: color, exposure and sharpening adjustments keep the match intact as long as your editor preserves the metadata. What breaks a match is geometry — cropping, straightening, lens or perspective corrections — and exports that strip EXIF (social media, texts, "Save for Web"). Geotagged photos place the camera automatically on a geolocated model; interiors use a quick guided placement instead. Full photo guidelines →
The built-in compositing module. After matching, you paint the photo's foreground (trees, fences, poles) back over your model with brush and polygon masks, blend the render into the photograph (line weights, color, noise, blur), crop, and export at the photo's full resolution — flattened JPEG/PNG/TIFF or a layered PSD whose foreground mask stays editable in Photoshop. It's included in every subscription.
